I keep running into a kind of writer’s block. It’s hard for me to think of ideas for the paper. I can write but it’s difficult to do so. My sources are a bit of a problem too. It’s is difficult to work them in without it sounding cringe.

Writing to discover what you think can be a very difficult thing to do. It gets easier with practice as you gain faith that simply doing it and working with your material in writing will enable you to figure out what you think.
That does mean that you have to accept that early efforts might not sound very good.
